Why is the site all broken looking in IE?
You need compatibility mode, click the broken page icon near the top of your browser by the address bar.
There is a white bar along the top, or bottom, across some content on other pages, how do I get rid of it?
You need compatibility mode, click the broken page icon near the top of your browser by the address bar. If this still doesnt work I suggest that you switch to a different browser like Chrome beta or Firefox if at all possible until I figure out why it does this on the bottom border of the div.
What's with all this white space at the bottom of the FAQ and Archive pages?
If you see it, then you are using Internet Explorer, the "special needs" browser. I call it that because my site is littered with code snippits and css remarks that allow it to display in at least a readable manner. There is even a css support file in the root to allow it to display the menu and this accordian style faq page you are currently reading. If IE was not made by Microsoft then I seriously doubt I would have half the questions that I do have and no headachs trying to wrangle the stubborn browser to display correctly.
That centered text is really a pain to read in your comments.
Again, you are using Internet Explorer and it don't like to display my site correctly, I highly suggest you go to to question 2 and download chrome.
What do you make the comic with?
I use Daz Studio with the PWtoon Shader, models edited or made in hexagon and some things in carrara and bryce. (bryce link coming soon) scroll on down and click on the little banners in the bottom of the left sidebar.
How do I contact you? There is no email link. :(
I am a private woman, and do not give out my email address to just anyone due to getting so much spam I had to abandon an address. Just leave a comment requesting a contact with a brief reason why and I might email you if I decide it is a good enough reason, the form requires an email that I can retrieve from the database, or pm me on the forum, it's almost as good as an email.
What happened to your chat?
It died O_O. Just teasing, actually it didn't make the site update just yet, give it time, but I rarely ever visited it so I think it was a waste of space actually.
Want to exchange links?
Sure! Leave a comment saying that you linked me and have a button for me. They must be 200 wide by 40 high so the site looks nice.
Why does Crossing Death get such a huge banner?
Because the artist, BlkKnight, is my best friend and he made the engine behind the comic.
So, BlkKnight made the site look this way?
No, I did all the design work and the entire layout myself. He just did the webcomic display engine and comment system.
That webcomic display engine sounds cool! Can I use it too?
One day you can, it is currently in alpha testing to a very select group that currently requires a rather extensive knowledge of html, css, and basic php. I only know about the php include but I also have a basic idea on what does what but I am no slacker in the other departments. For nore detailsS visit Crossing Death and use his contact link.
Why did you change from comicpress?
That's rather complicated and I have a personal issue with one of the developers of Comicpress that I refuse to go into. you shouldn't complain, now it is more streamlined and nicer looking and doesnt clog up my server.
Any other reasons you don't like Comicpress?
Now that you mention it, it's rather bloated and piggybacks wordpress to work right. Poorly developed plugins slow down the site and even the nicely designed ones can slow it down. The current one is very non editable in the actual code department and requires a plugin for that. I won't even start on how it leaves the database a total mess. In a nut shell it's bloated and plugin happy.
Why does your site resemble Comicpress? or Why does your menu bar looks a lot like the old CP menu bar?
I actually liked the old layout I had before Compicpress got all snazzy. There are many difference if you care to look like the pages. For instance, the content and the comic shares the same div, while in Comicpress it was only between the two sidebars. The file handling is vastly different as well.
Why are your navigation buttons so pixelated?
Because they are temporary buttons that are just simply there until I get around to making new ones.
Your menu is so cool, how did you do it?
I just sprinkled some salt and butter on it to give it that shine. Nah really, it took a little time and effort, not to mention image making and some CSS work to give it that nice look. The IE part is from the csshover.htc file I found. There will be a link in my resources shortly.
Your Chapters link doesnt go anywhere, why is that?
Because the css in the menu requires that all < li > (without spaces) are links and that is simply the placeholder for the chapters display system. ;) The really nifty thing about BlkKnight's engine is if I check the chapters box it is immediately added to the menu.
What if I find an IE related bug?
Just post it on the current page, I'll look at it and see what I can do about it.
One of your pages has some kind of gobbligook error, what does it mean?
It means that I forgot about the dir/filename1.php file. Since notepad++ uses tabs I make filename1.php files so I can tell them apart. Example: this faq.php page has a bunch of code in it to display things right and a php include reference to the pages/faq1.php that you are actually reading. I can edit this faq1.php without having to worry about all that code in the faq.php. It's a really neat command. If the gobbligook is on the index, in the menu, and on the archive, then the database server is down. Wait a while and try my site again.
Why is your ad bar above your navigation bar, it is like a speed bump that gets in the way of my clicking the nav bar.
It is intended to be that way in the hopes that you click on them to support my site. Before I had them that way they were deactivated too often so I had to do something to make them more visible. Here's a secret, the comic image is the next link too ;).
I have a comic and wish to crossover with you, would you be interested?
Currently? As of the month of January 2010? No, I would not be interested in one. I am working on the 2009 cameo caper and really need to get it done before I even think of another crossover. I do have one planned, if I can get a hold of my partner and inform him that I am updating again, since I took family emergency time off. However, leave a comment with your question and we can see if we can work something out for the future. Perhaps we can do it later on, or one of my chapters can be adapted to include your characters. Writing is my strong point, not many people dislike my actual stories, it's just I have a hard time in displaying them correctly because I fail to think about the actual actions until the time comes to sit down and make the comic that it pertains to. Chapter Three is polluted with on the spot edits because it simply flowed better.
May I have a cameo?
If you cameo me, I'll cameo you, or if I really like your comic I will cameo my favorite one, like Evan of Bad Guy High, or Odessa of Crossing Death. Once in a while I'll cameo reader's comics so the best way to get a cameo is to comment, I can't always do drunkduck cameos dontcha know. I also sometimes have an obscure refernce and will award a background cameo if I can think of a place for one so stay tuned.
I have a question that is not here, how do I ask it?
Post a comment, I love comments and would only be too happy to add it here. Please make sure it is a constructive question and doesnt relate to any that is here already. ~Adele'
